Indigenous Art and Gathering Spaces
Ho’-kee-melh Kloshe Lum - meaning "to gather, good spirits,” is an Indigenous-led housing and community development located at 1015 East Hastings Street in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.
Created by the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society in partnership with BC Housing and community partners, this project supports long-term housing, cultural connection, and community well-being.
Designed as more than housing, the building includes gathering spaces, social enterprise opportunities, Indigenous art, and culturally grounded services.
For housing applications, support services, or general inquiries, contact VAFCS.

Ho’-kee-melh Kloshe Lum provides affordable one- to three-bedroom homes for individuals and families, guided by an Indigenous-centered approach to community and care. These homes foster connection, culture, and support, creating an environment where residents can thrive and confidently build their futures.
For the affordable housing units, applications will be distributed and accepted directly through the Friendship Centre. For the Shelter program and Supportive Transition units, individuals must be referred through VAFCS Reaching Home for pre-screening prior to accessing these services.
Explore interactive walkthroughs of one, two, and three-bedroom units. These tours offer a closer look at the layouts, interiors, and living spaces.

An Indigenous-led organic tea café, our space is both a welcoming place to gather and a social enterprise dedicated to creating training, volunteer, and employment opportunities for youth and marginalized community members facing barriers to work. Grounded in Indigenous values and a deep respect for the land, we are proud to serve teas that nourish body and spirit while fostering empowerment, connection, and community well-being.

Our mission is to provide affordable, sustainable transportation while creating meaningful training and employment opportunities for individuals facing barriers to work. At Klatawa Bike Shop, we refurbish donated bicycles, offer affordable repair services, and sell refurbished bikes and accessories - all while serving as a platform for youth and marginalized community members to gain skills, experience, and employment.

Our building features dedicated ceremonial and gathering spaces designed to honor Indigenous traditions and foster community connection. These spaces provide a place for reflection, celebration, and cultural practice, welcoming everyone to participate, learn, and build meaningful connections.
