Counselling Programming

VAFCS provides affordable counseling and free emotional support sessions for Indigenous clients and individuals without insurance. Our counseling package includes 12 sessions (virtual or in-person) of 50 minutes and is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. During these sessions, clients will benefit from personalized therapeutic planning and goal-setting. Our approach is structured to address presenting concerns, drawing from a range of treatment modalities such as Indigenous wisdom, acceptance and commitment therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and existentialism.

In addition to counseling, we offer 30-minute emotional support sessions. Unlike counseling sessions, emotional support sessions do not involve therapeutic planning and are less structured. They offer a shorter but meaningful opportunity for individuals to receive support.

Eligibility for Counselling Programming:

Counselling is provided for individuals aged 14 or older.

Counselling is for individual sessions only, as we are unable to offer family counselling currently but are hoping to offer it soon.

Rates

We believe that everyone should have access to counselling. That's why we've implemented a 'pay what you can' model. This means that everyone is

welcomed to VAFCS counseling, regardless of their ability to pay our full rate.
