About Us

The Reaching Home Program at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society (VAFCS) supports Indigenous Peoples who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The program provides housing placement, financial assistance, case management, and culturally grounded support to help individuals secure and maintain safe, stable housing. Through relationship-building and individualized support, Reaching Home works to reduce barriers to housing and create pathways toward long-term stability and well-being.

Cultural Outreach Program

The Reaching Home Cultural Outreach Program, at the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Centre Society, supports Indigenous Housing Clients by strengthening connection to culture, community and a sense of belonging. Grounded in community and ceremony, the program creates welcoming spaces where people can build cultural support networks, reconnect with identity, and feel supported.

Through access to Elders, Ceremonies, and hands-on workshops that share and teach both artistic and practical skills, participants are encouraged to learn, heal, and support one another. The program is rooted in relationship-building and meets people where they are at, recognizing culture as an essential part of holistic wellness and housing stability.
